October 2017 Service Project

If you are interested in joining us and our amazing team of friends and volunteers by helping partner with locals in Colorado City and Hilldale to revitalize the town ravaged by Warren Jeffs, we will be traveling down the weekend of October 13th – October 15th, 2017. The week will be full of amazing opportunities volunteers are welcome to attend what they can.

(Coming soon)

1. Dates are October 13th – October 15th. Project day will be the 14th. We are currently working on an activity for Friday afternoon and Sunday morning, likely another hike and/or a short tour, and will give more information once that is figured out!

2. We are trying to secure a place for all of our volunteers to stay, but it might be worth it to start looking at places in Hurricane, St. George, and even there in Short Creek! I’m hoping to have more information about housing within the next week or two and will update as soon as possible!

3. The plan for Saturday is fairly simple. We are going to spend the day at Cottonwood Park doing some clean-up of the grounds and the equipment. The park is getting a lot more use these days (hooray!!) and we want to make sure that it’s safe for families to play in. Terrill Musser is getting some grass donated, so we will have folks helping lay that out. We will be sanding and painting equipment, tightening loose nuts and bolts, and picking up debris. The hope is that we will spend most of the day doing work and then host a soccer/kickball/baseball event for community members to participate in. This project likely won’t be as labor intensive as past projects have been, but it’ll still be a lot of fun and a great way to spend time together in a place we all love!

4. If you know anyone who would like to offer any type of financial support, please send them this link and let them know what we will be up to in October! As you all know, we are completely donation based and would love to really clean up the park as best we can. That means we need to buy paint, spray paint, sanding supplies, etc. Any help is appreciated by volunteers and community members alike!

If there are any questions/concerns, please feel free to contact us!

Thanks everyone!!
